Hormonal & Neurotransmitter Imbalances

Hormones, together with neurotransmitters, comprise what is known as the neuroendocrine system. Imbalances in hormones can frequently lead to imbalances in the neurotransmitters and vise versa. Neuroendocrine imbalances have been related to attention/learning issues, sleeping problems, menopausal difficulties, PMS, birth control issues, weight problems, depression, anxiety and libido issues. The doctor may recommend one or more of the following tests based on the symptoms you are experiencing:

Neurotransmitter Testing is often recommended when a patient is struggling with any of the issues mentioned above. Based on the results, the doctor is able to suggest a plan to bring the neurotransmitters back into balance. Testing for certain hormones may also be done at the same time.

Men & Women's Hormonal Testing is done to determine whether there is a need for hormone replacement and to monitor hormone levels during hormone replacement therapy (HRT). If baseline levels are only slightly out of range the doctor may recommend supplements to support the affected hormonal system in lieu of HRT.
