1. How does this practice differ from my regular primary care office?

Most regular primary care providers use conventional medicine exclusively and a problem-focused approach to health. Preventive Medicine uses both conventional and contemporary/alternative medicine, embracing an integrative medical model, as well as a functional, systems-based, solution-focused approach to health. We believe that excellent communication with our patients is vital to the wellness process. Because of this, we provide our patients with a copy of their office notes, which we review with them after each visit with Dr. Rathod. We also provide our patients with a copy of all lab results.

2. What is integrative medicine? Why choose an integrative medicine office over a traditional office?

Integrative medicine combines the best of conventional medicine and contemporary/alternative medicine to provide you optimal health. Dr. Rathod draws upon her traditional medical training as well as her extensive knowledge and experiences in holistic medicine to treat her patients. We believe that considering the entire body is essential when approaching health. Optimizing the body's natural function offers the most effective method of treatment and prevention.

3. What conditions does Dr. Rathod treat?

Dr. Rathod sees patients for a wide range of issues, including diabetes, chronic illness, women's and men's health issues and prevention. She is a board-certified internist and rheumatologist and can treat the full range of medical issues typically seen in a family practice setting. Dr. Rathod believes that all illness can be traced to underlying root causes, and by addressing these causes she is able to customize a treatment plan based on your individual needs.

4. How will Dr. Rathod treat my condition?

Because every person is different, Dr. Rathod will help you customize your path to health through specialized lab tests and clinical evaluation. This may include lifestyle and nutritional changes, along with in-office treatments. Dr. Rathod helps facilitate the healing process by identifying root causes of illness and educating patients, however, patients themselves are ultimately responsible for their healing.
